Review: ‘Dhoondte Reh Jaoge’ is mindless but silly fun!
The film has a ridiculous storyline and idiosyncrasies of the characters make you laugh many-a-times but remember to do away with your thinking cap or you will not be able to tolerate the mindless comedy. Child actor turned hero Kunal Khemu has done a good job along with comedy veterans Paresh Rawal and Johnny Lever. Sonu Sood is a revelation too.
The storyline is farcical - Anand (Kunal Khemu) and Raj (Paresh Rawal) are, two people with opposite mind-sets and yet they plan to make a flop film. Anand is a chartered accountant while Raj is a film producer. It so happens that the duo plan to raise big money to produce a movie and then actually make it at a pittance amount. They aim to make the movies ‘Solay Se L'Gaan Tak’ (spoofs on ‘Sholay’, ‘DDLJ’, ‘Gaddar’ and ‘Lagaan’ are hilarious) in such a manner that it turns out to be the biggest flop of the year. But unexpectedly, the film turns out to be a huge hit. Now the financiers and distributors are after Anand and Raj for their chunk of shares from the huge profit.
The best thing about the film is that the director has managed to cash on the entertainment quotient rather than making it technically perfect with an out-of-the-world story line and excellent presentation. But if we overlook the hilarious moments, there is nothing much to look-out for. The second half of the film is boring and not so great on the Music part.
The comedians Paresh Rawal, Johny Lever, Asrani have done a good job. Soha Ali Khan has performed well. To sum up, the film comes as a funny interlude in otherwise ‘recession-stricken’ times.
